  Send Us Your Memories! Since its debut at the Buhl Planetarium and Institute of Popular Science in 1954, the Miniature Railroad & Village has become a Pittsburgh icon. Hundreds of thousands of people been enchanted by the display over the past 50 years, and for many, visits to the Miniature Railroad & Village are a family holiday tradition. Southwestern Pennsylvania has a special sense of nostalgia that is a central piece of what makes the Miniature Railroad & Village so wonderful. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Miniature Railroad & Village, Carnegie Science Center is launching an ongoing project to document, share, and celebrate the memories of Miniature Railroad & Village visitors through on-site and on-line initiatives.
